Visit Egypt with the Editors of

ANCIENT EGYPT

Sat 16th to Sat 23rd September 2006

A unique opportunity to spend a week in Egypt in the company of AE Editor, Bob Partridge, Assistant Editor, Peter Phillips and Egypt Correspondent Ayman Wahby Taher in a special tour organised in conjunction with ANCIENT WORLD TOURS.

We will be based in Cairo and staying at the superb Meridian Pyramids Hotel at Giza. During a busy but exciting week, we will visit the Pyramids at Giza, where we have special access to the tomb of Queen Meresankh and, a real treat, a chance to see the Sphinx up-close, by entering the Sphinx enclosure, normally closed to tourists

We will explore the great treasure house of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and spend a full day at Saqqara, visiting the pyramids and tombs there, including, by special permission, the New Kingdom Tomb of Horemheb. In the heart of Cairo we will explore the Islamic and Coptic parts of the city with a trip to the Citadel, to view the Mohamed Ali mosque and other older and more interesting mosques in the complex. After seeing the nearby Sultan Hassan Madrassa and the Rifai Mosque, we will move move on to the Hanging Church and other sites in Coptic Cairo.

More pyramids will be visited at the sites of Hawara, Meidum, Dahshur and Abusir and during the week there will also be some free time to shop or to visit places of your own choosing.

Bob, Peter and Ayman will share their experiences, knowledge and enthusiasm for ancient Egypt with guests during the trips, but also in some evening lectures and discussions.

The cost will be £995 (Single supplement £140). For a more detailed itinerary and booking forms, please contact Bob Partridge 6 Branden Drive, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 8EJ. United Kingdom. Email bobegyptpl@aol.com. Tel 01565 633106
