EDITOR: Robert Partridge

Bob took over the Editorship of Ancient Egypt in May 2004. He retired early from a career in banking and now devotes all of his time to Egyptology, having been studying ancient Egypt for many years and from a very young age.

He lectures on ancient Egypt to Egyptology Societies within the U.K and abroad and is on the Committee of the Northern Branch of the Egypt Exploration Society and Chairman of the Manchester Ancient Egypt Society (being the one of the largest and oldest of the many provincial Egyptology Societies in the UK).

Bob organises specialist trips to Egypt to visit the main, but also some of the more obscure and less visited sites, acting as team leader and is a guest Egyptologist on tours to Egypt for Ancient World Tours.

A keen photographer, Bob runs the Ancient Egypt Picture Library. He has a collection of over 30,000 images of the ancient and more recent sites. Many of his photographs appear in the pages of Ancient Egypt. His photos are used by publishers of books and also for television programmes. He been an Egyptological advisor to several television programmes and also to film makers.

Peter has written and published books on Ancient Egypt. He lectures on the subject to Egyptology Societies in the UK and abroad, and is Treasurer of the Manchester Ancient Egypt Society. He is a retired IT professional and has a particular interest in Ancient Egyptian architecture.

CONSULTANT EDITOR:  Professor Rosalie David OBE

 

PROFESSOR ROSALIE DAVID OBE has achieved world renown for her pioneering work in investigating mummies using non-destructive techniques. She is Director of the KNH Centre for Biological and Forensic Studies in Egyptology at The University of Manchester. For over 25 years her Certificate Course in Egyptology has been popular, as is the new Distance Learning Course in Egyptology.

 

Prof David was the former Keeper of Egyptology at the Manchester Museum, and is Director of the International Mummy Database and Director of the Schistosomiasis Investigation Project. Her research work into this disease, a scourge in the ancient as well as the modern world, was recognised recently with a prestigious award from the Anglo-French Medical Society. Prof David is the author of numerous books and articles on mummies and the religious practices of the ancient Egyptians, a presenter of TV and radio programmes, and an extremely popular lecturer all over the world.

 

Rosalie David was the first woman professor in Egyptology  in Britain, and the first to receive an OBE in recognition of her services in Egyptology.

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT: Victor Blunden

Victor studied Egyptology at the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool. He now lectures for the University of Manchester, the WEA and also to Egyptology Societies in the UK. His main areas of interest are Egyptian religion and art. Victor’s specific roles for ANCIENT EGYPT are reviewing Egyptology web sites, maintaining the information on Egyptology Societies and the updating the Event’s Diary.

EGYPTIAN CORRESPONDENT: Ayman Wahby Taher

AE Egyptian correspondent, Ayman Wahby Taher holds a degree from Cairo University in Archaeology and completed his PhD on the inscriptions on the screen walls in the temples of Denderah and Edfu. He was chosen as a Griffiths Institute Scholar to study and research his PhD in Oxford. He is currently a full time lecturer in Egyptology at the University of Mansoura, Egypt. Prior to this he worked for the Supreme Council of Antiquities for seven years, under the guidance of Dr. Zahi Hawass.
